Brands We Carry

Canadel

Canadel builds custom dining furniture the slow way — hand-assembled and hand-finished, piece by piece — in Louiseville, Quebec. Founded in 1982 by André Deveault and still family-owned into its second and third generation, Canadel turns out roughly 1,150 chairs and 200 tables a day, every one specified by the customer who ordered it. At Gavigan's you configure wood, color, shape, and height, then eat off it for the next twenty years.

Brand Story

Inside Canadel

André Deveault founded Canadel in Louiseville, Quebec in 1982. Four decades later the company is still family-owned and run by the second and third generations, which shows in how the furniture is finished rather than in any marketing claim.

Volume and craft coexist here: about 1,150 chairs and 200 tables leave the plant each day, and each one is hand-assembled and hand-finished. That is why no two Canadel tables wear in exactly the same way.

The UDesign program handles customization online and in the showroom across eight collections including Gourmet, Champlain, and Loft — wood species, tabletop shape and size, height, leaves, base style, finish color, and coordinating chairs, benches, or stools.

Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Canadel dining furniture different?

Canadel has hand-assembled and hand-finished its dining furniture since 1982 rather than mass-producing it. Roughly 1,150 chairs and 200 tables leave the Louiseville, Quebec plant each day, every one built to a specification a customer chose.

What can I customize on a Canadel piece?

Through the UDesign program you choose the wood species and hardware, the stain or paint color (including two-tone combinations), the table's dimensions, shape, height, and leaf options, and matching chairs, benches, or stools.

Which Canadel collections does Gavigan's carry?

Canadel builds eight collections including Gourmet, Champlain, and Loft. Availability rotates by showroom, so call ahead if you want to see a specific collection in person.

How long does a custom Canadel order take?

Custom orders take longer than in-stock furniture since each piece is built to your configuration. Ask your Gavigan's associate for a current lead time when you place your order.

Where can I see Canadel dining furniture in person?

Canadel is on display at Gavigan's showrooms across Catonsville, Frederick, Bel Air, Glen Burnie, Towson, and Westminster, finished in a range of the stains and colors available to order.

Is Canadel the only custom dining option at Gavigan's?

No — John Thomas Build-Your-Own dining offers solid Parawood tables and chairs you configure the same way, and our broader custom furniture program covers upholstery too.
