Brands We Carry
John Thomas Furniture
John Thomas Furniture, a division of Whitewood Industries, has been crafting dining furniture in Thomasville, North Carolina since 1982, and has been 100% employee-owned since 2017. Every piece is built from solid Parawood — a plantation-grown hardwood with density comparable to maple — and the Build-Your-Own program lets Gavigan's customers in Maryland pick the table, the chairs, and the finish combination instead of accepting a set as shipped.

Brand Story
Inside John Thomas Furniture
Whitewood Industries founded John Thomas in 1982 and still builds it in Thomasville, North Carolina with more than 300 craftspeople. In 2017 the company became 100% employee-owned, so the people finishing your table have a stake in how it turns out.
The material is solid Parawood, also called rubberwood: a plantation-grown hardwood harvested after its productive latex years, which makes it an unusually eco-friendly choice with density comparable to maple.
Build-Your-Own is the reason to shop the line. Choose a table base and top, pair it with any chair in the program, and specify paints, stains, or distressed finishes — including two-tone combinations that most dining sets simply do not offer.
