Accessibility

Accessibility Statement

Gavigan's Home Furnishings is committed to making gavigans.com and our six Maryland showrooms — Bel Air, Catonsville, Frederick, Glen Burnie, Towson, and Westminster — usable by everyone, including shoppers who browse with screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, or voice control.

Standard

Our commitment

We work to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, the standard referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act for web content. Conformance means, among other things, that text meets minimum color-contrast ratios, that every function of the site can be operated with a keyboard alone, that images carry meaningful alternative text, that form fields are programmatically labeled, and that page structure uses correct headings and landmarks so assistive technology can navigate it.

Accessibility is an ongoing effort rather than a one-time project. As we add pages, photography, promotions, and new product content, we review the changes against the same standard, and we re-test the site periodically with automated tooling and manual keyboard and screen-reader checks.

Measures

What we have done so far

  • Color and typography chosen so body text and interactive labels meet the 4.5:1 contrast minimum against their backgrounds.
  • A “Skip to main content” link as the first focusable element on every page, plus visible focus outlines on links, buttons, and form fields.
  • Semantic landmarks — header, navigation, main, and footer — with one main heading per page and breadcrumb navigation labeled for assistive technology.
  • A homepage highlight carousel with pause, previous, and next controls that stops rotating automatically for visitors whose devices request reduced motion.
  • Labeled form fields with clearly marked required inputs and error messages that are announced, not signaled by color alone.
  • Descriptive alternative text on product and showroom photography, and tap targets sized for comfortable use on phones and tablets.

Transparency

Known limitations

Some content on this site is supplied by third parties, including manufacturer photography, embedded maps, and financing application portals operated by Wells Fargo. We do not control the accessibility of those third-party experiences, but we will always help you complete any of those tasks by phone or in person if you run into a barrier.

Contact

How to get help or report a barrier

If any page, document, or feature on this site is difficult to use, please tell us and we will help you directly and work on a fix. Include the page address and a short description of what happened if you can.

  • Phone: call the showroom nearest you — numbers are listed on our showrooms page — and ask for our customer care team

  • Mail: [mailing address for accessibility correspondence — client to provide]

We aim to respond to accessibility requests within three business days. If you would prefer to shop with assistance, every Gavigan's showroom welcomes accessibility requests: our associates can guide you through the floor, read tags and fabric details aloud, bring samples to you, take measurements, arrange seating while you shop, and complete an order on your behalf. Wheelchair-accessible parking and entrances are available at our showrooms; call the location ahead of your visit and we will have someone ready to meet you.

See it, sit on it, feel the difference.
