Brands We Carry

Vaughan-Bassett

Vaughan-Bassett is the bedroom brand Gavigan's recommends when a customer says "I want it made in America." Founded in 1919 by J.D. Bassett and B.C. Vaughan and still family-owned, Vaughan-Bassett makes 100% of its furniture in Galax, Virginia with roughly 600 American craftspeople — among the largest US-made wooden bedroom furniture producers left. It is a five-hour drive from our Bel Air showroom to the plant that built your dresser.

Brand Story

Inside Vaughan-Bassett

More than a century after its 1919 founding, Vaughan-Bassett is still family-owned and still in Galax, Virginia. When most of the industry moved offshore, the company invested in the plant instead — which is why roughly 600 people in one Virginia town build every bed, dresser, and chest that leaves the building.

The wood is solid maple, oak, and pine, and the company's One-for-One program plants a tree for every tree harvested. Sustainability here is a supply chain decision, not a marketing line.

The Artisan & Post sub-brand takes the same American manufacturing into a more design-forward direction — cleaner lines, plank tops, and finishes that suit a modern farmhouse or transitional bedroom.
